Synthematik is proud to present the result of a unique and brave experiment under the code name “PROJECT:RENTGEN” conducted by one of Russia’s oldest and renowned gothic electro/darkwave bands PURPLE FOG SIDE.
The idea of the experiment is quite simple: to produce an album in a real-time mode with each song created and recorded from scratch within as short as two days. The countdown started on September 21, 2009 and lasted till October 15, 2009. During the time of the experiment, the band kept on uploading a brand new track every two days for everyone to listen to. Every PFS fan could get involved into this unusual experience via interaction with the band in blogs and social networks.
Pushed to the very limits of mental, emotional, physical and creative capabilities, PFS managed to create not just an album, but work that can be undoubtedly regarded as their best to date. 10 brand new songs fully convey the band’s diverse musical spectrum, from sensual darkwave ballads to hard-hitting electro gothic tracks.
Now as the experiment is over, all the tracks have undergone remixing and mastering, which revealed a lot of new nuances to the music.
The final version of “PROJECT:RENTGEN” additionally features a Russian version of “My Secret Friend” and three remixes produced by fellow musicians of Alpha Point, X-ti and Elektronnoe Oblako.
Keeping to the spirit of experiment, PFS have decided to team up with Synthematik in order to make “PROJECT:RENTGEN” available for everyone as a free download.

Synthematik представляет результат беспрецедентного по своей амбициозности и смелости эксперимента под кодовым названием “PROJECT:RENTGEN” от признанных ветеранов российской темной сцены PURPLE FOG SIDE.
Суть эксперимента проста – создание нового альбома в режиме реального времени, где каждая композиция создается и записывается с чистого листа в течении всего двух дней. Проект стартовал 21 сентября 2009 года и продлился до 15 октября 2009 года. В течении всего эксперимента группа вела подробные онлайн отчеты и раз в два дня выкладывала в сеть по новой песне, с которой могли ознакомиться все желающие. В таком жестком ритме, балансируя на пределе психических, физических и творческих возможностей, группе удалось создать не просто новый альбом, а альбом, который по праву можно считать лучшей работой PFS на данный момент. 10 новых песен в полной мере отражают весь творческий спектр группы от чувственных darkwave баллад до жестких gothic electro боевиков с темной провокационной лирикой.
После завершения безумного творческого марафона, все записанные композиции были заново пересведены и отполированы на мастеринге, что привнесло в их звучание совершенно новые краски и нюансы.
Участники группы остались верны чувству эксперимента, решив с помощью нетлейбла Synthematik предоставить поклонникам возможность скачать “PROJECT:RENTGEN” совершенно бесплатно. Помимо основного материала в окончательный вариант альбома вошла русскоязычная версия песни “My Secret Friend”, а также три стилистически близких ремикса от Alpha Point, X-ti и Электронного Облака.

I hear some minimoog basslines.

We do not use Moog stuff. Our primary hardware synths are Waldorf Q, Nord Lead 2 and Korg N-series and Yamaha MU100 modules as a rompler. For software: NI FM7 and Absynth. And in this album there are Oberheim Matrix 1000, Access Virus B and Nord Modular G2, which we used really a bit (They are just in our studio to record other bands).
We exist since 1996, and in 1997 we entered one of the first netlabels, KFMF.
